Clear
Lake 2008 |
The
festivities at the Surf this year were top shelf as usual.
It was rough for the "Yesterday's Memories" crew
for this was the first in Clear Lake without our buddy George,
but we all had a great time and we want to thank Shane, Laurie
and the whole gang for their hospitality. |

We all were
so moved when the Surf management had George's picture on
the two big screens at the Surf during the shows. What class
they have! |
Here we see
Bob Hale, who was the DJ at the Surf the night that Buddy,
Ritchie and the Bopper played that last show, with a fan. |
|
|
Mr. and Mrs.
Gerry Dwyer were at the British luncheon. Gerry was the owner
of the plane that left with the three singers and pilot Roger
Peterson that fateful night in 1959. |
This is Peggy
Sue. That's right , She was at the Surf this year, too. |
|
|
Earl "Speedoo"
Carroll of the Cadillacs signing autographs at the meet and
greet. |
Sonny Burgess
is taking a picture of Ed taking a picture of him. Two broken
cameras? Just kidding!!! |
|
|
Marty and Sandy
from Jay and the Americans enjoy talking to their many fans. |
Sonny Burgess
and the Original Pacers spent a lot of time with the folks
who attended the meet and greet. |
|
|
The luncheon
that the British Buddy Holly Society puts on each year is
a great time. Marty from Jay and the Americans seems to be
enjoying himself. |
WATD owner
Ed Perry wanted to do an interview with Bob Hale about that
fateful night. Bob was DJ that night. Ed is working on a documentary
about the whole incident in '59. |
|
|
Harry P does
a super job with the videos shown during the shows. |
Dick Smith, Bill and Ed Perry spend
a little time talking with Sleepy Labeef. |
|
|
The Brits had
a picture board set up at the luncheon in honor of George.
What a nice thing to do. |
They also had
a cake made stating that there was a new star in Rock and
Roll Heaven. |
|
All of us here
at "Yesterday's Memories" want to thank Laurie,
Shane and the whole Surf Ballroom gang for their hospitality.
And now it's off to the fiftieth in '09. |
